Billings Brisket Trading Session
Today’s Results: +$306
We’re in Billings, Montana today … It’s a Pedals and Profit event city, so that means we have a chance to rest our legs, sleep in, recover and eat some good food. This is me sitting with Ken Hagar owner of Blues BBQ and I must admit that I have changed my vote for “the best trading places in the world” competition - it is now any place where Ken’s brisket is sitting within forks reach!
I must have had a slight lapse in judgement when choosing to film our trading documentary during the summer doldrums. The volatility has been terrible and I am fighting tooth and nail for every penny of profit the last few days. Today was no exceptions. After the first hour of trading, I was up almost $300 when I decided to place a limit order to exit my last contract. While I was waiting, I turned my attention to my kids, who were busy drawing smiley faces on my toes. After a little tussle with the kids, I glanced up just in time to see the market shooting off like a rocket – the opposite direction of my limit order. I scrambled to the computer but it was too late, I was down almost $200 in one of the only volatility spikes of the day! That’s when I decided to go to Blues BBQ. And it was a good choice. I recovered in the market and I had some great brisket… Thanks Ken!
The family went to the Native American pictograph cave today and had a good time with the teepee they had set up. I asked about the rock art and they said it’s hard to beat Utah for Indian art. I would have to admit we’re pretty fortunate to live in a state with so much ancient American history!
I am looking forward to meeting some of the good folks from Billings tonight. I have really enjoyed getting to rub shoulders with some of our clients and prospects in their hometowns. Thanks for all your kindness and good words!
