A couple favorite features in the new Alveo Trading Platform
Being on the road presents a challenge for a software engineer. There aren’t always times to sit and focus on the things that really require quality attention. The only example I can think of would be if you had a ton of calculus homework you needed to do and the only time to do it was while you were at a birthday party for your friend. Its a bit tricky, but I’m trying to make it work. Fortunately we have other talented people like Kimball back at Apiary able to work on things as well.
So back to Alveo. Because in part we wanted to use this Pedals and Profits trip as a way to open up the discussion about our new trading platform called Alveo, I wanted to take this chance to talk about some of my favorite new features that will be part of its release.
Unified login with apiaryfund.com
One of my favorite new features in Alveo is the unified platform login with your Apiary account. With 3rd party platforms like MetaTrader you have your apiaryfund.com login for things like training, community forums, etc. Then you have a completely different set of usernames and passwords for all your various accounts within the platform. You could have 3 different logins at any given time to manage a simulated account, funded account, and website account. That hassle will be much easier and simpler in Alveo. One login for everything that allows you to seamlessly switch between the content needed to be a successful trader and tools that enable you to make it happen.
Powerful custom scripts, indicators, and expert advisors
Whether you are an avid programmer or not, there will be a reason to appreciate this aspect of Alveo. The language for all scripts, indicators, and expert advisors is C#. We chose that language because of a few reasons. Its object oriented, its widely used, and its very quick. Running natively in Windows using .NET classes, Alveo has access to a lot of very good resources. I know that might sound a bit “under the hood” for many of you, but as more and more amazing Apiary traders take advantage of its flexibility, I believe you will understand why this is so exciting to have as part of our platform.
Automatic background sync
A big point of confusion for many traders within the Apiary Fund have been their statistics. More specifically, the time and method that MetaTrader communicated its orders to apiaryfund.com. An example scenario I’m referring to is when you call up Ron in risk management and want to discuss your latest trading efforts. He pulls up your account on the website and only sees your trades from a few days or even weeks ago. You’re frustrated because you have more recent efforts that you’d like him to look at. This situation shouldn’t happen any longer. Every single trade you place is automatically sent to Apiary’s servers immediately after execution has taken place. This sync will happen without you having to pull on a separate expert advisor like “Apiary Sync” and it will happen during intelligent times. Meaning that it will not interfere with more important things like market execution time. At the moment this sync will include your open orders and your order history, but we have left the door open for it to include things like personal settings and custom code in the future.
As we make more progress on Alveo, it becomes a greater help to have people use it and test things out. We would like to extend our private alpha of Alveo into a bit more of a public alpha at this point. If you are interested in testing out the platform, please send an email to me at firstname.lastname@example.org and when I have a break from riding I will try and get more information to you about when and how you can help.
