One Week Down … Only Eleven More to Go!
Having the bus overheat before even getting started was a curveball, but not a total disaster. Everything is mostly still on schedule. We got started on the right day and have made the right progress to be where we want to… seeing some amazing sights along the way. We’ve passed through Portland and are headed up the Columbia River. Above is Mount Hood, a landmark of the Portland skyline, with the Columbia below it. Thankfully, there’s a pretty strong wind headed east this time of year!
Cassidy and Aspen, Shawn’s two oldest, have been riding their bikes alongside the group. The rest of the Lucas family has been seeing the sights, singing songs, and playing games. These people are professional road-trippers, and you can tell this is not their first rodeo.
The bus’ absence has, of course, brought some challenges. Replacing the transportation and getting everything moved over has taken our non-riding hours, so there hasn’t been a lot of time to post. Videos, blogs, and trading sessions will be coming down the pipe as we head into week two. Lucas family food and sleeping were originally planned for the bus, meaning the restaurants and hotels add up to extra costs for Shawn’s trading to cover. He’ll be up early tomorrow on his laptop before the ride, trading to cover those costs.
